In December 2020, a passion for exploration and design led two childhood friends (Fionn & Jack) on Ireland’s wild Atlantic coast to begin thinking about what the future of outdoor clothing will look like.

Our Story

School yard days

Fionn and Jack first crossed paths in the early 2000's on the school yard.

Our name

Zirkulu is a Basque word, meaning 'circle'.

Given that our mission is to build technical outdoor gear based on the principles of the circular economy, we believe it's a good fit.

Ireland and the Basque region share a unique connection. Genetic studies have shown that Irish people have ancestral links with the Basque region. It is likely that the people who first settled in Ireland after the Ice Age originated there.

Purpose

Throughout history, humans have taken materials provided by nature and made products to meet changing needs.

Our planet is signalling challenging new demands.

Zirkulu is listening and finding innovative ways to meet these demands.

It soon became clear that the future of outdoor clothing lies in utilising raw materials that are bio-based and renewable.

Zirkulu grew naturally from a desire to make things better.

Today we build technical gear based on the principles of the circular economy and strive to chart new territory in outdoor apparel.
